The event
Shringar, Nishad is a curated musical journey into Khamaj Thaat, one of the ten foundational scales (thaats) of Hindustani Classical music. The Khamaj family is celebrated for its colorful duality—encompassing both majestic, grand Ragas and expressive, fluid compositions ideal for the semi-classical genre.
This concert brings rare Ragas and compositions of the Khamaj tradition to the stage through the authentic lens of the Agra-Atrauli Gayaki. Listeners will witness the hallmark elements of the Agra tradition: robust Nom-Tom Alap, rich voice projection, rhythmic playfulness (Layakari), and deep aesthetic emotion, presenting rare musical gems that are seldom heard on the modern concert stage.
